Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of
India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence and the
glorious history of it's people, culture and achievements - a series of
events to be organised by the Government of India to commemorate the
75th Anniversary of India’s Independence.
The Mahotsav will be celebrated as a Jan-Utsav in the spirit of
Jan-Bhagidari. This Mahotsav is dedicated to the people of India who
have not only been instrumental in bringing India thus far in its
evolutionary journey but also hold within them the power and potential
to enable Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of activating India 2.0,
fuelled by the spirit of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
The official journey of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav commenced on 12th March
2021 which started a 75-week countdown to our 75th anniversary of
independence to end post a year on 15th August 2023. Following are the
five themes of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

The Centre’s proposed plan to create a heritage village and boost tourism at Singaperumal Koil
and nearby villages, about 40 km south of Chennai, is expected to give a
much-needed fillip to the region’s development. The government has
sanctioned ₹25 lakh under the Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission
based on the State government’s suggestion to promote heritage villages
and tourism in the region. The ‘Rurban Mission’ covers
Singaperumal Koil and six villages nearby — Appur, Chettipuniyam,
Guruvanmedu, Kolathur, Reddipalayam, and Venkatapuram. The village
Chettipuniyam is known for its 400-year old Yoga Hayagreevar temple.

Project Elephant (PE)
is a centrally sponsored scheme, launched in February 1992 to provide
financial and technical support to major elephant bearing States in
India for protection of elephants, their habitats and corridors. It also
seeks to address the issues of human-elephant conflict and welfare of
domesticated elephants. The Project is being implemented in 13 States /
UTs, viz. Andhra pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Jharkhand,
Karnataka, Kerala, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Orissa, Tamil Nadu, Uttranchal,
Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

Project Tiger
was launched in India in1973 with a mandate to conserve tigers in a
holistic manner. These are fulfilled by facilitating focused, concerted
management of ectopically reserves in various States, constituted on a
core-buffer strategy through funding the technical support including
site-specific inputs to elicit local community support for conservation.
The Project has been successfully implemented and at present there are
28 Tiger Reserves in 17 States, covering an area of 37,761 sq. km. The
Tiger Reserves are monitored by a panel of experts using 45 criteria on
the format of World Commission of Protected Areas and reviewed by the
IUCN.
